Abu Dhabi’s eco-friendly city is getting a new mall (that will of course be enviro’-conscious).

Developers Majid Al Futtaim announced today that the Dhs300 million project, dubbed My City Centre Masdar, will include 60 retail outlets.

Set to open at the end of 2018, the one-level mall will be spread over 18,000 sqm and will be located in the heart of Masdar City. In addition to the retail shops, there’ll also be a Magic Planet family entertainment centre, Carrefour Hypermarket, food and beverage outlets as well as a City Centre Clinic providing healthcare services.

In keeping in-line with sustainability standards, the mall’s energy and water consumption will be 40 per cent lower than comparable buildings and will also include a shaded rooftop car park that features photovoltaic panels.

Most exciting is that the new mall will be linked with an Abu Dhabi Metro line, that will run along the main boulevard and feature a station situated within walking distance to the new retail space.
