Sponsored content: Olly Murs (aka, the most successful UK X Factor alum of all time) is coming to Abu Dhabi this month. Here are five reasons to catch him live…

With four number one albums in a row, and eight years of double-platinum stardom under his belt, Olly Murs is the most successful singer to have ever risen from the fickle world of the X Factor UK (he lost to Joe McElderry – who? – in 2009).
The good news is he’s coming to the capital this month. You’ll be able to catch him live at du forum on Yas Island on Friday April 28. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster and all Virgin Megastores across the UAE.
Plus, you can make a day of it now – as when you buy a ticket to the Olly Murs show you will get 20 per cent off of your total bill at any one of the Friday brunches at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island. You can book at the international Jing Asia, the gastro-pub Stills, or the authentic Lebanese restaurant Barouk.

Anyway, back to the concert, here are 5 reasons to see Olly Murs perform live…

1. The boy can sing

While some of today’s pop stars are underwhelming live on the actual singing front, this former X Factor finalist has got a strong set of lungs.
Here he is covering Sigma’s Changing – it’s a great example of how his voice can soar, but also get gravelly:

2. But he’s also a showman

We kind of hate it when we go see one of our favourites live, and they’re one of the ‘work my way through the track list, make no eye contact with the audience’ types. But you won’t get that with Olly Murs.
He’s known for being a showman live – expect jokes, emotional chats and plenty of dancing.

Here’s a 60 second quickie interview to show he’s more than capable of having a laugh:

“Come to the gig, we’ll have a great night of music. I won’t let you down,” Murs said when we asked him why we should go see him live.
Plus, we know he’s got bants, as he was quick-witted enough to be the presenter on The Xtra Factor from 2011 to 2012.

3. He’ll appeal to Demi Lovato fans too…

Any Demi mega-fans will know Murs’ tones from his 2014 track featuring the American singer Up, and we’re sure he’ll sing this platinum track in the capital…

4. His new album’s got some cracker tracks on it

It’s not just about Murs’ older tracks though, as his latest album, 24 Hrs, is widely considered his best collection yet. It features catchy singles like You Don’t Know Love, and the quietly frustrated Grow Up:

And of course the heartfelt title track Years and Years:

5. Plus, it’ll bring on some serious X Factor nostalgia

Any talent show fans will remember this moment…

See you there!
