Get creative at Warehouse421’s camp

The art hub in Mina Port is running workshops for kids and grown-ups this summer. A variety of sessions are available covering topics such as yoga, ceramics, 3D printing, table decorating, board games and aboriginal art. All in all, Warehouse421 is holding more than 50 workshops and sessions – that’s far too many to list, but click here for a preview of some that caught our eye.

Empire nightclub’s opening night

Abu Dhabi has a new nightclub – Empire opens tonight at the Yas Viceroy, and offers revellers a panoramic view of the city’s F1 track and state of the art LED and sound systems. It’s open four nights a week: Monday is ladies’ night, Tuesdays is Arabic Night, Thursday is R ’n’ B whil Fridays are called Dinner & A Show – reservations for that night include a four-course meal. This evening, though, it’s all about the opening night party.

Check out a new NYU exhibition

Woven Identities is a new exhibition on Saadiyat that looks at the often transient lifestyle that people lead in the UAE and examines how we conform to our environment.

Make a date for Liwa
Liwa date festival
The annual Liwa Date Festival, hosted in the Western Region, started July 19 and runs until July 29. The festival expects to attract some 70,000 visitors. As well as buying dates and associated products, visitors can also check out a market selling traditional Emirati goods, and take part in an Instagram competition. There’s also a Children’s Village to keep kids amused.

Explore Asian cuisines at Cho Gao
Cho Gao has a new brunch running this summer called Taste Of Asia, featuring sharing platters for starters, followed by a main course and then puddings from the dessert buffet.

Check out a summer tent

The Southern Sun hotel has a tent called Kahraman that was initially open for Ramadan, but is now staying open all summer. It’s free entry and open until 1am and there’s an Arabian set-menu available featuring grills, hot and cold mezze and desserts costing Dhs120 for two people.

Guggenheim sneak peak

You can see what will be exhibited in the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi at The Creative Act on Saadiyat Island. Split into three sections – Performance, Process and Presence – the exhibition features more than 25 works of modern art from 18 international artists including Anish Kapoor, Susan Hefuna and more.
