Work will start on expanding the shopping centre in early 2018

Abu Dhabi’s Marina Mall is getting a whopping Dhs3 billion makeover that will see it add a water promenade, the capital’s first skate park and new restaurants. Check out this promo video for an idea of what you can expect.

Work on the extension will start in 2018, although no date has been given yet for when the project will be completed. The upgrade to the mall will also feature 15,000sqm of outdoor park space, water features, 900 extra parking spaces, plus three helipads. The 546 metre-long water promenade will be called Marina Walk.

Some of the new restaurants will be housed in a restaurant tower that will offer views of the Arabian Gulf. You can get an idea of what it will look like in the image above.

There’ll also be a new residential tower, and the existing mall will also get re-fitted. The main entrance will get renovated and new LED screens will be installed throughout the retail destination.

The Marina and Breakwater is a part of Abu Dhabi that is going through some big changes – the Fairmont Marina Residences (below) is also tipped to open in 2018.
