The weather might be warming up, but the events calendar in the capital isn’t cooling down. Here’s a selection of events taking place this month and next, that are perfect for foodies, art lovers, music fans and even brides-to-be

Club Social


The first in a series of events taking place on Yas Beach, this weekend’s is called Food Club Social and is all about, perhaps not surprisingly given the title, social media and food. There’ll be some of the region’s top social media influencers, such as Omar Borkan, in attendance and food stalls featuring some of the UAE’s most unique and quirky restaurants including 7 Cones, Hola Delights and Poke Poke. There’s also a kids’ zone with an inflatable climbing wall and electric swan ride, plus volleyball tournaments, jetsurfs (a motorised wake/surf board), and a screening of the classic movie Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. WEDDEX


Al Ain’s Convention Centre hosts WEDDEX this and next month, an exhibition for future brides looking for inspiration for their big day. There will be displays of wedding gowns, accessories, perfumes, furniture, rental cars, video and photography, henna art, honeymoon destinations and more.

Africa Fest UAE


There’s a new festival taking place in the capital next month that celebrates Africa – Africa Fest UAE will feature music from African drumming troupe Dubafrique, Nigerian Dubai-based singer/songwriter MKO and more. Taking place at Beachcomer at The Sheraton, you’ll be able to try African dishes such as tagine made by Meknes restaurant (you’ll find them in Al Zahiyah), and braai created by Springbok Butchery. There’ll be stalls selling African arts, crafts and jewellery, plus kids can get involved with face painting and African drummer sessions.

Decked Out


Yas Marina is hosting two more of its family-friendly Decked Out weekends next month. First up is a superhero-themed event called Keep Calm & Be A Superhero, featuring bowling, car races, break dancing, graffiti artists and a screening of kids’ movie The Incredibles.
A week later the theme changes to Alibaba & The Pirates – kids can play a game of hook the camel, lantern making classes and puppet shows inspired by the spirtit of Ramadan. The movie this weekend is Alibaba & The Pirates. Both movies start at 7pm on their respective weekends.

Muscle And Fitness Expo


Abu Dhabi has a new expo – the Muscle And Fitness Expo will take place next month at the du Forum, and it’s a chance for fitness companies to showcase their products, and for you to learn a few things about keeping fit. There’ll be celebrities on hand from the sports world to give advice and competitions. Sports covered will include wrestling, MMA, jiu-jisu and Les Mills classes. There’ll also be some high-profile muscle events taking place over the weekend, including the World’s Strongest Man Championships and an IFBB Elite Pro International Bodybuilding competition.

Ramadan at the Art Hub


Abu Dhabi Art Hub is hosting an exhibition and several talks, all inspired by Ramadan. It’ll run for the duration of the Holy Month and will feature 25 different artists showcasing a variety of styles, including painting and photography. The overall theme is how the spirit of Ramadan is celebrated.
