1. Check out some Japanese art
Louvre Abu Dhabi is paying tribute to Japanese creativity with its latest exhibition, Japanese Connections: The Birth of Modern Decor, which launches today. It will feature a display of 19th and 20th century paintings, prints and folding screens that place a focus on the relationship between Japan and France. The exhibition will also include Manga Lab, offering a series of workshops about manga and graphic art.

2. Appreciate the spoken word
Backyard Poetry is back for a new season, and will now take place at the Otantik Restaurant and Cafe. This monthly open mic event provides a platform for young poets to showcase their talents and share their stories.

3. Book a table at a brand new brunch
The Yas Viceroy is no more – Yas Island’s iconic hotel at the F1 track has been rebranded the Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi, and it’s relaunched its brunch deal, too. Gone is the Pit Stop Brunch, and in its place is the Origins Brunch, which features barbecued grilled lobster, make-your-own-poke stations, Beef Wellington with all the trimmings, and Arabic and Indians courses. Your brunch ticket also gives you access to the hotel’s after-brunch party at rooftop bar Longitude, plus pool access.

4. Catch a new horror flick
Halloween might still be a month away, but we’re already gearing up for it with the release of horror-thriller The Nun. The new fright fest, part of the Conjuring universe, delves into the origin of the demonic Nun Valak, who first made her evil presence known in The Conjuring 2.

5. Treat yourself to a big breakfast
Have you got your hands on our September issue yet? We’ve rounded up all of the best breakfasts in the capital, so you’ll have plenty of inspiration for the most important meal of the day. 6. Check out the new season at Warehouse421
The end of summer means one thing for Abu Dhabi’s art scene – it’s time for new exhibitions and events, and one of the first to announce their Autumn programme is Warehouse421. The Mina Port art hub has a series of exhibitions, workshops and film screenings that start this month. The first is an exhibition of artworks from students from Cohort 5 of the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship.
