The inaugural YogaFest Abu Dhabi takes place at Umm Al Emarat Park on March 23…

Are you more comfortable in downward-facing dog than you are sitting down? Then make sure you’re free on Saturday March 23, when Yogafest Abu Dhabi makes its debut.

The festival is a spin-off from the hugely-popular YogaFest Dubai, which was founded by Elaine Kelly back in 2010, and now sees more than 5,000 people attend each year.

Yogafest Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, is being launched by Sasha Quince, founder of Let’s Go Yoga and Neli Merris founder of Anandi Yoga in a bid to unite all yoga and wellness establishments in the Abu Dhabi community.

The free event will bring together over 20 yoga, wellness holistic health brands, with a main stage hosting a full schedule of various yoga styles, including an empowering opening ceremony.

Away from the main stage, YogaFest Abu Dhabi also features four distinct zones: A Healing Tent, Learning Tent and Kids Tent where many therapeutic and educational workshops, classes and kids and family programmes take place. The What’s On Award-winning Ripe Market will also be part of the festival’s inaugural year.

Commenting about the importance of having a yoga festival in Abu Dhabi, Sasha said: “We need a space to bring all yoga and wellness organisations together to connect, commune, and unite. Our vision is to see all of the yoga studios and other fitness and wellbeing brands come together and share their unique offerings with our Abu Dhabi Community. As the Year of Tolerance, there is no better time then now.”

How can you get involved? Yogafest is donation based, and you need to register online here to confirm your attendance. The ticket allows you to access any class across the tents (spaces are on a first come, first seated basis). Entrance to the park costs Dhs5.

See you on the mat…
