1. Party at Buddha-Bar Beach Abu Dhabi
Make it a night to remember at Buddha-Bar Beach Abu Dhabi and party hard with DJ Qubiko. The young DJ hails from Italy and his house music sound features a unique blend of soulful rhythms and hip-hop.

2. Tuck into a mango-centered afternoon tea
Head on over to Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi where Lobby Lounge has a new afternoon tea running for the whole month of March. The main ingredient here is mango, and you will be presented with several options including an assortment of sweet and savoury dishes. Cold options include mini mango-cream cheese cone or pan-seared tuna loin with mango chutney, or hot dishes such as grilled prawn skewer with mango sauce or mini mango pizza. For desserts, try the mango-infused varieties of tiramisu or mini tart. The cost includes a cup of coffee or tea and you even upgrade to the bubbly package for an extra Dhs80.

Friday, March 15
3. Be blown away by some fireworks
The UAE’s first-ever fireworks contest starts this weekend with more than 87,000 shells being launched across eight dazzling displays. The event is part of the Mother of the Nation festival in Abu Dhabi, and will see four teams taking part from Canada, Netherlands, South Korea, and Australia battle it out to claim the inaugural winner’s trophy. The team competing this weekend on Friday are the Canadian ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and Team Netherlands, named ‘Royal Fireworks’ will compete on Saturday. Visitors can enjoy eight, epic 15-minute displays that will create breathtaking scenes to fill the skies over Abu Dhabi’s Corniche.

4. Attend the Abu Dhabi Pet Festival
The Abu Dhabi Pet Festival comes around once a year and is a must-attend event for pet owners in the capital. The event is designed to raise awareness about animal welfare and pet services within the UAE, so you can expect to learn about pet health, training, nutrition and fashion as well as be entertained by a day of shows, activities, shopping, food and more. There’s a kid zone where kids can learn about animals, and veterinary specialists on hand to educate guests on the importance of pet care in the UAE. There are requirements on bringing your pet, so check their website to avoid disappointment.

Saturday, March 16
5. Check out a Mother’s Day event
Bawabat Al Sharq Mall is hosting a week-long mother’s day event at the Kid’s Area on the first floor of the mall. Take your children and have them create a Mother’s Day card which entitles you to a raffle draw for the chance to win a diamond set. There’s no cost to enter and materials will be provided. The event runs from 2pm to 10pm from March 14 to 21, with the raffle draw at 8pm on the final day.

6. Check out a cool exhibition
For a culture fix, head to Warehouse 421 and check out the Nomadic Traces: Journey of Arabian Scripts that debuts this Saturday. The exhibitions were commissioned by nine artists and designers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. The works of arts range from drawings, art installations, and ceramics that explores the origins of six of the most influential alphabets in the history of the Middle East.
