A new tapas bar overlooking the Creek will open early next year at the Dubai Creek Yacht Club as it builds on an exciting year of development.

Launching in January, Cielo is a two-floor Spanish-themed tapas bar and sky-lounge, the first part of which claims to be modeled on the traditional rustic Bodega style venues of Madrid and Barcelona.

A spokesman said: “I have always been inspired and excited about the variety of cuisines and experiences which can be found across Spain and we have developed Cielo Tapas Bar and Sky Lounge to celebrate this – from rural to urban, mainland to coastal. From the menu, through to music, décor and beverages, we are working with a highly experienced team directly from Spain – to create a concept which is unique and exciting for the residents and visitors of Dubai alike.”

Dishes, including paellas, meats, seafood, broths and canelones such as the ‘Bacalao A La Vizcaina Vizcaina style cod and the most traditional ‘Lubina a la Sal’ whole baked salt encrusted seabass will all bring the taste of Spain to the menu.

In addition to dining the tapas bar will feature a DJ playing Latin music, live sports, and live performances from  Flamenco dancers.

One floor up, the sky lounge and terrace – accessible via a VIP elevator – wants to ‘become the new home of Dubai fashionistas and hipsters’.

Cielo is the latest concept in the Whissle portfolio, who also have OKKU, Claw, Riva and Sophie’s Gastro Cafe.

Elsewhere at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, the Boardwalk at is celebrating 20 years by getting a revamp in time for the winter weather. There’ll be a new pizza oven, a fresh seafood display and a fresh nautical theme indoors.
