Tickets are now on sale for the 2014 Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, set to be the biggest in its history. To cater for an expected record demand from fans, the Yas Marina Circuit will host up to 60,000 guests, up from last year’s previous record of 55,000.

Running November 20 to 23, the event will culminate in the last race of the Formula One season, with drivers vying for double points. Ticket prices have been frozen at 2013 levels for 2014, with an ‘earlybird’ discount of up to 30 per cent available until May 31. The Abu Dhabi Hill grassed area introduced last year will accommodate 3,000 more fans, while the Paddock Club will host an extra 1,500.

A new ‘GP Parks Package’ will allow access to all four event days and entry to either Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park, or Yas Waterworld aqua park. All ticket holders will have access to the high-profile concerts each night at the du Arena.

Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO at Yas Marina Circuit, said: “Every year we strive to make this showpiece event better and offer more to the fans. We are constantly responding to what people want and this year we’re launching even more ticketing options and specially-created packages that really mean there is something for everyone.

“With an expected capacity crowd of 60,000, more fun activities for fans and double points for the final race – which means more exciting on-track action than ever – the atmosphere promises to be tremendous.”

However, the decision to award drivers double points for the last grand prix of the season has drawn widespread criticism, not least from world champion Sebastian Vettel, who called it “absurd”. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) made the change to keep the competition alive for as long as possible. Television audiences fell after Red Bull won four successive drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
