Dubai will welcome one of Britain’s most famous comedians in May when John Bishop brings his show to the Middle East for the third time.

The Merseyside funny man will perform at World Trade Centre on Thursday May 29, using it as a launch for his 38-date UK tour which takes place in the Autumn.

Bishop’s stock has risen markedly in the last five years and he is now a regular on the television circuit, appearing on shows such as ‘League Of Their Own’ alongside James Corden and Jamie Redknapp, and ‘Have I Got News For You’ with Paul Merton. His success on the small screen led to the commissioning of his own show, ‘John Bishop’s Only Joking’, while his live stand-up performances are regularly broadcast on ‘Live at The Apollo’.

“I’m delighted to have been asked to perform in Dubai and very much looking forward to my first ever show in the Middle East,” he told event organisers Done Events. “I’ve visited the city before and really enjoyed my time there, so I can’t wait to get on stage at the World Trade Centre – bring on May 29.”

Thomas Ovesen, from Done Events added: “John is one of the most requested comedians here in the region, so we are thrilled to be able to finally present him live in Dubai for his first Middle East show.  This will be his only show in the region and is for one night only, therefore we expect this show to be a sell out.”

Bishop’s profile in Britain has also seen him appear at major charity events, including Soccer Aid, an biennial football match involving celebrities and former players, usually hosted at Manchester United’s home stadium of Old Trafford. He played alongside stars like Robbie Williams, Marvin Humes, Olly Murs, Mark Owen, David Seaman, Martin Keown, Michael Sheen, Will Ferrell, Gordon Ramsay, Gerard Butler, Mike Myers, Ed Norton, Woody Harrelson, Jaap Stam, Clarence Seedorf, Roy Keane and more.

Tickets for the show go on sale on March 11 at Virgin Megastores, priced at Dhs300.
