Kings of Leon will perform in Dubai on May 28 in the latest installment of the Live @ Atlantis series, hot on the heels of DJs Carl Cox, who rocked the house this weekend, and Avicii, who jets in for his own show on April 4.

The Tennessee rockers, who have enjoyed incredible success over the last five years since the release of hit track ‘Sex On Fire’, are yet to bring their show to the Dubai, but have previously performed in Abu Dhabi.

However anticipation for their arrival has been high since bassist Jared Followill tweeted way back in November that Dubai was part of an ‘around the world in two weeks’ tour schedule. At the time, he wrote: “Nashville-NY-London-Amsterdam-London-Dubai-Sydney-LA-Nashville. Around the world in 2 weeks.”

Nothing sadly came of it. Today, though, it was announced that a deal is in place to bring the Followill family – Caleb, Matthew, Nathan and Jared – to The Palm before the summer.

The gig will be sandwiched between the band’s North American and European tour for their new album Mechanical Bull. They started on February 5 in Atlanta and have worked their way around the USA and Canada building towards a finale in Los Angeles on April 11. Things resume in the UK on May 31.

Reflecting recently on being back on tour, frontman Caleb said: “I’m excited. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. I think it’s the first time in a while that our fans have had a breather from us because we’ve always been known for kind of working non-stop. And I think the fact that we’ve been away for a minute, I think people are really excited. And I know we’re excited and we’re going to try to bring something special to the table.”

The multi-Platinum selling band, who were seen this week partying in LA with Brad Pitt, have released six studio albums in 11 years, starting with ‘Youth and Young Manhood’ (2003) and moving on to ‘Aha Skae Heartbreak’ (2004), ‘Because Of The Times’ (2007), ‘Only By The Night’ (2008), ‘Come Around Sundown’ (2010) and the latest, ‘Mechanical Bull’.

Tickets for this show go on sale at 9am on Monday March 24 from ticketmaster.ae and atlantisthepalm.com priced at Dhs380 for regular and Dhs450 to Dhs600 for VIP.
