What’s On has details of a book fair being held in Dubai in which people are asked to donate books to create a permanent art exhibition in the city.

The people of Dubai are being asked to donate books to create a permanent art exhibition in the city.

The Leave Your Note campaign is taking place at the soon-to-open A4 Space gallery in Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz. To get involved, all you have to do is write your name, the date and a personal note on the title page of a book and take it along to the gallery. Any book – text or graphic – in any language is welcome, but the written note must explain why the book is important to you.

The exhibition is the first of its kind in Dubai and has a global reach with books being donated from London, New York and Kuala Lumpur. The opening event is on April 21 at 7pm. But books can be left at other times too.

A4 Space looks set to be an important new addition to the already vibrant Alserkal Avenue art district. The 6,000 square feet gallery aims to become a hub for artists to gather and exchange ideas. The venue has free wi-fi, a cinema room, a project space, a café and a concept store selling fashion, prints and sculpture.
