Lady Gaga has vowed to deliver the “show of a lifetime” when she performs for the first time in Dubai in September, a story first brought to you by What’s On.

The superstar singer said in an interview with Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld that she is “very excited” to visit the city.

“I’m very excited to go there, see my fans, give them the show of a lifetime,” Gaga said in the interview, published in Harper’s Bazaar USA.

Reviews have so far been mixed in her homeland, with the Las Vegas Weekly delivering the verdict that will most upset the star, describing it as “veering dangerously close” to being just like “any other performer”.

Writer Andrea Domanick said: “As a pop performer, Lady Gaga proved she’s still a cut above the rest, barring perhaps only Beyoncé. And if ‘ArtRave’ starred anyone else, it might be heralded as a top-notch arena pop show. But the most dangerous thing a self-proclaimed ‘freak’ like Gaga can do is come across like just anyone else, and the over-processed EDM and directionless setup of ‘ArtRave’ veers dangerously close.”

Unsurprisingly given her notoriously wacky wardrobe, Gaga has said she is eager to take advantage of Dubai’s world-famous shopping malls when she flies in next month.

“I must explore the local designers and go shopping,” she told Lagerfeld.

The designer gushed about his own recent visit to Dubai, to unveil his 2015 Chanel Cruise collection.

“I loved it when I showed the Chanel Dubai collection there,” he told the singer.

Stars Tilda Swinton, Frieda Pinto, Vanessa Paradis and Dakota Fanning were all on the frow at the spectacular runway show, held on a private island in May.

British supermodel Joan Smalls was among the glamazons stalking the catwalk in Lagerfeld’s creations, which drew inspiration from the Middle East.

ArtRave: The Artpop Ball, is Gaga’s fourth concert tour. The New Yorker will be bringing mega hits like Telephone, Applause, and Born This Way to Meydan Racecourse on September 10.

Team What’s On will be keeping our eyes peeled for women in crazy wigs, 10-inch heels, or meat dresses around Fashion Avenue in Dubai Mall that week.

Tickets for the Dubai show are still available, priced between Dhs495 (General Admission) and Dhs1,295 (Golden Circle). VIP tables and air-conditioned suites will also be available, starting at Dh2,000. Available from ticketmaster.ae.
