If you’re a South African expat who’s feeling a bit homesick, you’ll be pleased to know that a taste of home is on its way to the UAE – comedian Marc Lottering is coming to Dubai.

The beloved stand up comedian, instantly recognisable by his big hair and even bigger grin, will be bringing the belly laughs with his latest one-man show, I Don’t Work on Sundays, on September 25 at DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates.

You might want to book your tickets quickly too – the award-winning funny man regularly plays sell-out shows across South Africa, and when he’s not performing for the home crowd he tours in Australia, Canada and the UK. He was last in Dubai in 2010.

At the heart of Lottering’s shows are the larger-than-life parody characters that he’s created, and regular fans can expect to see the whole gang during his upcoming performance, from “Colleen”, the  grumpy cashier, to wannabe popstar “Galatia” and the corrupt “Pastor Brandon”.

The popular stand up has been in the business for 17 years. He first broke onto the scene in 1997 with the one-man show After The Bleep, but he’s probably best known for the hit production From The Cape Flats With Love in 2001, the same year he won the Vita Award for Best Actor in a Comedy.

It’s not the first time this year that DUCTAC has hosted a South African funny man – in May, the venue welcomed Trevor Noah, a huge star in the comedy business, whose credits include appearances on The Jay Leno Show, and the Late Show with David Letterman.
