One of the most popular additions to the Dubai nightlife scene this past year has announced it is expanding to a new venue in Jumeirah.

Societe Dubai, which launched at Marina Byblos in December 2013, will now open a second nightspot at Capitol Hotel on the edge of Old Dubai, close to Maritime City.

Work is already well under way at the venue and is expected to take six weeks, ensuring an opening ahead of Christmas and New Year. Owners insist the decor and furnishings will stay true to the brand, meaning plenty of nods to the 80s and 90s across the 300m2 space (similar to the current location), which includes a mezzanine floor.

“We are very excited to be launching Societe Jumeirah,” owner Gary Holliday said. “The past year has been outstanding for Societe. The decision to open a second venue allows us to share the experience with more people in the Downtown, DIFC, Jumeirah parts of Dubai.”

According to the information released by Societe, party-goers can expect ’the same nostalgic flavour of music with eclectic tunes from the 80s, 90s and 00s’, as well as ‘more leading artists from around the globe’.

Already in their first year, Societe Dubai Marina has hosted cult stars from yesteryear including Shola Ama, D:Ream and Haddaway.

Societe Jumeirah will also be open seven days a week, as opposed to the the four in the Marina, though similar themed nights are expected to be launched at the new venue. They include High Societe (Ladies night), Societe Latino Night, Vintage Societe and Societe Noir.

The new opening means Societe’s flagship location at Byblos will be renamed Societe Dubai Marina.
