Aspiring actors and actresses are being encouraged to auction for a production of Annie which is set to take to the Madinat Theatre in April.

Popular Productions and The West End Stage Experience have opened the stage door for anybody aged between six and 60 who is interested in treading the boards.

Those selected from auditions on January 16 and 17 will perform alongside the stars of London’s West End, having undertaken around three weeks of training. The whole experience totals five weeks, including two of shows.

The roles up for grabs include Annie and her orphan friends, and many other supporting characters.

This is not the first time the show has come to the region, having sold out a two-week run in 2009. While new orchestrations and characters are to be expected when it returns next year, theatre-goers can expect plenty of classics, such as ‘Hard Knock Life’, ‘Maybe’, ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Easy Street’, L’ittle Girls’, and more.

The Depression-era story charts the journey of orphanage-runaway Annie, an 11-year-old in New York, who overturns her fortunes with the help of local billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Under his wing, the star wracks up an impressive collection of new friends, including the President of the United States.

A new film adapatation of the story starring Jamie Foxx is about to hit cinemas.
