The inaugural Dubai Open takes place at The Els Club in Sports City between December 18 to 21, the first time the Asian Tour has come to the Middle East.

A top quality field includes Darren Clarke, the 2011 Open champion, as well as European Tour regulars Tommy Fleetwood and David Howell. and 23 qualifiers from the MENA Golf Tour.

The tournament, a first professional meeting at the six-year-old venue, is the third major event in Dubai’s golf calendar behind the DP World Tour Championship, and season-ending match-up at Emirates Golf Club.

“I’ve played in Asia for many years and can tell you from experience that a lot of talented players are coming through,” said Ernie, the man who lent his name to the course, an 18-hole, par-72 that covers 7,538 yards. “We all recognise that Asia is one of the game’s biggest growth areas and the addition of events like the Dubai Open will only help accelerate that growth. The Dubai Open will also be fantastic for the Mena Golf Tour’s best young golfers as it gives them a platform to showcase their talents and get the world of golf to notice their progress since 2011.”

Meanwhile, the Middle East edition of the number one golf magazine in the world, Golf Digest, has two European Tour Pro-Am spots up for grabs for those who complete a short survey.

Additionally, all those you complete the survey will be entered into the draw to win dozen of other fabulous prizes, including hospitality packages and more.
