Oscar-nominated actor Liam Neeson is coming to Dubai bringing his ‘particular set of skills’ for the regional premiere of his latest movie, Taken 3, it was announced earlier today.

With that hulking frame, measured drawl and piercing blue eyes, the 62 year-old former amateur boxer is the kind of person you’d want in your corner in times of crisis – and that’s exactly the role he’s played in the hugely successful Taken franchise. The first two films have together grossed more than $600 million (Dhs2 billion) in the global box office.

The Irish actor – who also appeared in films such as Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and Schindler’s List – has confirmed that he will be attending a red-carpet gala screening at Dubai’s Novo Cineplex on 12 January.

Neeson returns as former covert operative Bryan Mills – and overprotective Dad – in Taken 3, and, despite saving his daughter from human traffickers in Taken, and saving himself, his daughter, and his ex-wife from bad guys in Taken 2, he still has more people to save…

Consumed with rage from the death of a loved one and framed for a crime, he goes on the run from the CIA, FBI and police as, for one last time, he is forced to use his unique set of skills to track down the killers, exact his unique brand of justice and protect the only thing that matters to him – his daughter.

Tickets for the event cost Dhs100, including a bucket of popcorn and a soft drink. Doors open at 6.30pm, with the red carpet arrivals at 7.15pm, and the screening at 8pm.
