Just Hold On, he’s coming here.

For those of you who missed that subtle hint there, What’s On this morning announces rapper Drake is coming to the Middle East for a one-off show in Dubai later this year.

The Canadian’s ‘Would You Like a Tour?’ will roll into town on March 14, taking to the stage at Dubai International Stadium just 24 hours after Michael Buble’s back-to-back nights at the same venue.

The show, brought to the region by Louder Entertainment, is arguably the biggest solo hip-hop gig to ever be held in the Emirate, with Abu Dhabi having previously held sway on such things by attracting the likes of Eminem, Jay Z and Pharrell Williams. The latter was, of course, here for the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Meydan last month, performing alongside Busta Rhymes and numerous stars from EDM in what was the only event that could hold a flame to today’s news.

In his five years at the top, Drake has sold five million albums worldwide, topped the US Billboard chart longer than any other rapper and scooped the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album (Take Care) following 10 previous nominations. The title track from the album featured Rihanna, while the likes of Jay Z, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Andre 3000 have also collaborated.

‘Drizzy’ as he is also known, was hotly tipped to appear at last year’s after-race concerts during Formula One weekend in the capital, with the disappointment clear on social media when the speculation proved baseless.

But now fans in the region have something to look forward to. They can expect to hear all their favourite tracks, including ‘At the Bottom, to Here’, ‘The Motto’, and ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’. They might even be treated to a sneak preview of his highly anticipated fourth album ‘Views From The 6’, due this spring.

Tickets for the show go on sale from 10am on Wednesday January 21, priced from Dhs320. Platinum and Royal Boxes are available from Louder HQ – reservations@louderentertainment.com
