Complete guide to cycling in Dubai

Good news for Duba’s cyclists – the brand new Dubai Cycling Track is almost ready, and scheduled to open in October.

According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), more than 70 per cent of the track at Seih Assalam-Nad Al Sheba has already been completed. Once it’s all ready, this new 23km stretch of biking space will link up with an existing cycling lane at Al Qudra Road, and extend towards Emirates Road, Sheikh Zayed Road, Latifa bint Hamdan Road and Al Barari.

When it’s done, the hotly anticipated Dubai Cycling Track will also feature outlets for renting bikes and accessories, a fully equipped medical clinical, and 10 rest points with benches for when all that peddling gets a bit too much.

It’s all part of an initiative aimed at improving Dubai’s cycling scene and encouraging a more active lifestyle for residents, enabling them to safely travel around on two wheels instead of four.

There are also plans underway to construct a cycling path around Dubai Marina for Dubai Tram users, and the RTA is considering adding more cycling tracks to other residential areas around the city.
