The heart of Dubai’s fitness district is packed with state-of-the-art facilities, cafes and bars.

Here are five things to do in Dubai Sports City…

1. Kickers

Kickers

Overlooking the astroturf pitches, Kickers has two areas: one with alcohol and one without. There is lots of exposed brickwork on the walls, two pool tables that get plenty of use, and big portions of food served in plastic baskets. Lots of TV screens showing the latest matches mean you’ll never be far from the action.

2. Fit Republik

fit republik

The region’s biggest gym has been turning heads (and building biceps) ever since it opened last year. The team consists of Olympic gymnasts, Olympic swimmers, and UFC fighters and you’ll find a dedicated gymnastics arena as well as mixed martial arts classes, Crossfit sessions, and even an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

3. Nathalie’s

nathalie's

This stripped back café is attached to the Fit Republik gym, so expect a stream of lycra-clad folk enjoying a healthy post-workout snack. They have juices, protein shakes and smoothies, plus breakfast dishes, and you can top your food with a ‘supershot’ of chia seeds, goji berries, or maca powder. If you’re carb-o-phobic, the burger can be served in a lettuce cup. There’s also kale salad and a salad of green uncracked wheat, which sounds very healthy. For something a little more naughty, try the selection of wholewheat pizzettes.

4. Bootcamp

sports-city-bootcamp

Ex-rugby pro Brendan Rawlings runs a hardcore bootcamp on the Sports City athletics track three times a week. Expect two laps of a 400m running track as a warm up followed by a 45-minute circuit of high intensity interval training focusing on strength, plyometrics and conditioning. That’ll be squats, rope lifts, burpees, sled drags and tyre slams. We’re sweating just thinking about it.

the-dome

A huge, well-ventilated, floodlit, indoor sports facility perfect for footie matches and practice. You can hire out the pitches for parties, group fitness sessions, football matches or join an adult or children’s league by e-mailing football@dsc.ae.
