Our pick of the movies out in Dubai cinemas this week is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which is a zombie-horror-comedy take on the classic Jane Austen novel. (Random, we know, but just go with it.)

Here are all the flicks you’ll be able to go see from tomorrow…

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES

Imagine the Walking Dead set in the 19th century, and you get this zombie comedy (zom-com), which turns Jane Austen’s beloved novel on its head. In this reality, Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) is a fierce fighter defending her homestead from the zombie hordes. It’s mildly gory, bloody fun and has a healthy dose of feminism. “I’ll never relinquish my sword for a ring,” says Bennet. Smart woman, we know which we’d rather have in a zombie war.

HOW TO BE SINGLE

If you don’t have a plus one this Valentine’s Day, don’t worry – this rom-com is a timely reminder of all the fun to be had flying solo. Rebel Wilson (best known as Fat Amy from the Pitch Perfect films) stars as the lively Robin, who tries to teach her newly single friend Alice (Dakota Johnson) how to negotiate New York’s tricky dating scene. Alison Brie and Leslie Mann round out a great cast with a lot of laughs.

THE CHOICE

If you’ve ever seen any other movie based on a Nicholas Sparks novel – The Notebook and Dear John spring to mind – you’ll know what to expect from The Choice; ridiculously good looking people falling in love and overcoming obstacles against a backdrop of pretty scenery. If you’re looking for a romantic film to see this Valentine’s Day, it’s a good pick.

VISIONS

If it’s horror you want, there’s Visions, the latest creation from the studio that brought you Insidious and Paranormal Activity. It’s a similarly spooky haunted house thriller – Isla Fisher plays Everleigh, a pregnant woman who’s haunted by visions after a traumatic car crash. When she and her husband move to a new house, it soon becomes clear that there are malevolent forces at work.
