Our pick of the movies out in Dubai cinemas this week is Captain America: Civil War, the latest Marvel blockbusterHere are all the flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Remember a time before Marvel ruled the movie universe? Neither do we (sorry, Batman vs Superman). Captain America: Civil War is the third film focusing on the super-soldier (played by Chris Evans), but it’s just as much about Tony Stark, aka, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr). This time round, Cap and Iron Man go head to head when they come down on opposing sides of a new law that will force superheroes to reveal their secret identities. Some of the Avengers are along for the ride too, from fan favourite Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) to new faces in the form of Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). And is that a certain web-slinging teen we spotted in the trailer?

WHERE TO INVADE NEXT

You have to love Michael Moore. The infamous documentary film-maker behind controversial films like Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 clearly isn’t afraid to question the status quo, and while his latest venture isn’t quite as incendiary, it’s still an irreverent look at the American dream. In Where to Invade Next, he “invades” (well, visits) countries around the world, picking out the things they do better than the US to bring home: from vacation time in Italy to school lunches in France. This funny gem did well on the film festival circuit and definitely looks worth a watch.

THE MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY

Dev Patel, the star of Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, plays mathematical prodigy Srinavasa Ramanujan, a self-taught man of humble beginnings in India whose astonishing brain power results in an invite to Cambridge University. Set in 1914, the self-taught Ramanujan gets taken under the wing of maths professor GH Hardy (Jeremy Irons), but still finds plenty of obstacles in his way, from racism among his fellow students to teachers who dismiss his work. It’s not terribly exciting (it’s a film about maths, after all), but it’s well-acted by a top cast.
