The masterplan for the Dubai Expo 2020 site has been revealed…

We’re all excited about the Dubai Expo, and now we can get a better picture of what it will be like as they’ve just announced what the whole site will look like.

The Dubai Expo 2020 will be held in Dubai South – about halfway between Dubai and Abu Dhabi – and will be 4km long and 1.8km wide. The gated portion of the area will be spread across 200 hectares (that’s about 200 rugby fields), and overall the Expo 2020 site will be 400 hectares.

Plus, the site won’t be totally ephemeral, with the team announcing that 80 per cent of the buildings on the site will be used again (how they’ll be used we don’t yet know).

Here’s what it will look like:

The Sustainability Pavilion will have solar panels as well as water harvesting capabilities. The exhibitions inside it will look into sustainable cities, climate change, biodiversity and more: Sustainability

The Mobility Pavilion will explore innovation in transportation, digital connectivity and exploration:Mobility

There’s also an Opportunity Pavilion that will look into the future of work and the opportunities surrounding new industries: Opportunity

And, of course, let’s not forget the beautiful UAE Pavilion, which will showcase ideas and discussions from this region: expo-2020-falcon
