Our pick of the movies out in Dubai cinemas this week is Me Before You, a romanticc comedy based on a bestselling novel.

Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…

(And here are 15 other things to do this weekend.)

ME BEFORE YOU

Based on the best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes, this romance brings together two major blockbuster stars: Emilia Clarke (Khaleesi from Games of Thrones) and Sam Claflin (Finnick in the Hunger Games). Fortunately, there’s not a dragon or district in sight. Instead, Clarke plays Louise, a quirky girl who takes on the role of carer for the handsome Will (Claflin), a young banker who was paralysed in an accident. Sparks fly between the two – expect chemistry (and, we predict, tears) like you haven’t seen since you last re-watched The Notebook.

MAGGIE’S PLAN

There’s a very different kind of romance in this quirky comedy, with a star-studded cast that includes comic greats like Bill Hader and Maya Rudolph. The true star, though, is Greta Gerwig as the idealistic Maggie, a young woman that falls in love with the mysterious (and married)  John (Ethan Hawke). When their affair turns sour, she hatches a farcical plan to reunite him with his wife, played by the brilliantly unhinged Julianne Moore.

GO WITH ME

You probably wouldn’t consider Anthony Hopkins much of an action star, but the Oscar winner is quietly intimidating in this tense thriller that also stars Julia Stiles and Ray Liotta. When small town waitress Lillian (Stiles) is terrorised by creepy thug Blackway (Liotta), no one will step up to help her – Blackway is a crooked cop turned crime lord, so you can’t blame them. Only Lester (Hopkins), a former logger, is brave enough to come to her defence. But will his logging experience be enough to protect them both?
