Our top pick of the movies out in Dubai cinemas this week is Ghostbusters, Paul Feig’s reboot of the ’80s classic starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy.

Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…

(And here are 11 other things to do this weekend.)

GHOSTBUSTERS

What would happen if you remade an Eighties classic using a Noughties comedy dream team? You’d get Ghostbusters, a reboot of the iconic film, created by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. Set 30 years after the original franchise, you can expect a similar plot – four good guys (well, gals this time around) taking on New York’s paranormal population – along with cameos from actors who starred in the beloved original, including Bill Murray himself. Who you gonna call?

CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE

From Lethal Weapon to The Nice Guys, the best buddy comedies are the ones where the leads have good chemistry. Fortunately Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart have heaps of it in this laugh-out-loud comedy about geek-turned-buff CIA agent Bob Stone (Johnson), who contacts his friend Calvin Jorne (Hart) 20 years after high school asking for help on a case. The result is one of the best bromances we’ve seen in a while, with both leads turning in hilarious performances.

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

We all worry about spending too much time looking at screens (and yes, we know you’re probably reading this on your phone), but in Captain Fantastic, Ben (Viggo Mortensen) takes the idea of a digital detox to extremes by eschewing the trappings of modern life, and instead taking his wife and six kids to live off the land in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. But when his wife dies, Ben’s father-in-law blames him and forbids the whole clan to come to the funeral. The resulting road trip, adventures, and clashing cultures result in a moving and surprisingly funny family drama.
