Sweet treats that are both delicious and actually good for you? Yes, really…

Here are are six great places to get healthy desserts in Dubai (some of them are perfect for those with food intolerances)…

1. Detox Delight

Detox Delight Ice Pops

It’s always ice cream weather in Dubai, but those harmless looking scoops are often high in sugar and fat. For a guilt-free way to cool down, try the Detox Delight ice pops (Dhs15). Handmade and containing only organic ingredients, these vegan desserts are packed with fruit and veg, and free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar – plus, they contain just 30 calories each. Order online.

2. Muncherie

Muncherie

Founded by yoga teacher turned entrepreneur Natasha Stephenson, these indulgent sweet bites are raw, vegan, gluten-free and (largely) paleo-friendly. There are snack-sized desserts and full-sized cakes for special occasions: try the raw cheesecake (Dhs250) or the healthy (yes, really!) Nutella tart (Dh250). Order online or find the Muncherie range in select branches of Waitrose, Spinneys and Organic Foods And Café.

The name of this company comes from the fact that its desserts are all paleo-friendly, which means no grains, no refined sugar and no dairy, but plenty of healthy fats like nuts and coconut oil. Try the chocolate truffles (Dhs50 for six) to stave off sweet cravings, or the healthy chocolate brownies (Dhs100 for eight) for a treat with your afternoon cuppa.
