Everyone likes a steak. Everyone loves Salt Bae.

If you haven’t yet discovered the magic that is Salt Bae, you’re in for a real treat.

Dubai- and Turkey-based chef Nusret Gökçe has recently gone viral thanks to a video of him slicing up an Ottoman steak like he was born to do it.

What makes the clip so amazing? No, it’s not the masterful manner in which he carves the meat. It’s the fantastical way in which he sprinkles the salt afterwards – wind ruffling his hair, his circle specs and musketeer moustache adding to the mystique.

Hence the name and hashtag #saltbae.

Here’s the video that was filmed at the Nusr-et outlet in Dubai (update: we’ve just found out that it’s possibly in the newly opened outlet in Abu Dhabi. But hey, it’s still the UAE). Wait until the end, it’s worth it.

Aside from having become a living meme, Gökçe has achieved great success in other areas of his life.

For starters, he owns a chain of famous steakhouses – Nusr-et. One of which is here in Dubai at the Four Seasons Jumeirah, with the other three steakhouses back in his home country of Turkey. He’s also just opened a burger spot at Riverland Dubai

Salt Bae is no stranger to fame: the Turkish chef already had one million followers on Instagram. He was simply a wrist-flick away from being catapulted into stardom. And a tweet from Bruno Mars.

Here’s how the internet responded to the wonder that is #saltbae:
