Bargains, free films and yoga, a brew fest, outdoor parties and fresh restaurants.

Here are your next three days in Dubai sorted. Have a good one!

Thursday 30

1. Go see Ali, Astro & Mickey, aka UB40

The original trio behind UB40 are at Irish VIllage tonight – the band has 40 million record sales under their belt and plenty of hits, including Red Red Wine and Falling In Love With You.

Irish Village, Dubai, 9pm, Dhs150. Tel: (04) 282 4750. More info and tickets on website

2. Nab a tech bargain

gitex dubai

Gitex Shopper started yesterday and runs until Saturday – here are 10 of the best bargains you’ll find there. One word of warning however, if you’re heading down expect crowds. They’re even extending the metro hours on Saturday for it, as they’re expecting that many people they expect to be muscling into the Trade Centre.

GITEX Shopper, Dubai World Trade Centre, until April 11am  to 11pm. Dhs20 entry. Metro: World Trade Centre. More info on website.

3. Bag a fashion bargain

Right next to Gitex Shopper you’ll find The Big Clearance Sale, which features 80 per cent off on more than 100 fashion and beauty brands – if you’re after some skincare, jewels, shoes, perfume or new clothes, this is the place for you.

Dubai World Trade Centre, 12pm to 11pm today (11am to 11pm Friday and Saturday). Dhs10 entry. Tel: (600) 55559. More info and full list of brands on Facebook.

4. Dine at the city’s latest Peruvian

Over Peruvian? Well the latest Latin spot in Dubai – Lima – has its own USP: the man behind it is Virgilio Martinez. Martinez runs the fourth best restaurant in the world according to San Pell’s top 50 list (Central in Lima, Peru), and we’d argue his Dubai outpost, Lima, is now the UAE’s best Peruvian restaurant. Book a table on the terrace and don’t leave without trying the Peruvian suspiro (Dhs50) dessert.

Fine dining courtyard (next to La Ville Hotel), City Walk, daily 12pm to 1am (2am Weds-Fri). Tel: (800) 5462. Taxi: City Walk. More info on website.

Friday 31

5. Have a healthy morning

Ripe Organic Market is hosting a healthy morning at Reform every Friday until April 14. Running from 8am to 12pm, there is an hour of free yoga from 9am to 10am, healthy breakfast served from 8am to 11.30am and organic fruit and vegetable stalls spruiking goods from 9am to 12pm.

Reform Social & Grill, The Lakes, 8am to 12pm, free entry. More info on Facebook

6. Watch extreme sports at The Beach

There’s a festival called Urban Beats running at The Beach all weekend – think extreme sports demonstrations, as well as street art and a range of hip hop. We’ll be heading down to check out 28-year-old slacklining pro Mickey Wilson from the US. You’ll also get to see BMX phenom’ James Jones in action, as well as pro scooter rider Lewis Williams. There will also be breakdancing battles and live art activations. Head here to see a full schedule of events.

South Lawn, The Beach opposite JBR, 6pm to 10pm Thursday and 4pm to 8pm Friday and Saturday. Free entry. More info on Facebook.

7. Warm up your Cosplay

It’s Comic Con next weekend! To get the Cosplay party started, The Daily at the Rove Downtown Dubai are hosting a Comic Con warm-up brunch today. At Dhs99 for adults and Dhs49 for kids, you’ll get to enjoy a full buffet brunch with some Comic Com related activities to keep you entertained. Cosplay is encouraged.

Rove Downtown Dubai, Dhs99, 11am to 3.30pm. Tel: (04) 561 9999. More info on Facebook.

8. Watch a flick by the water

Dubai Marina Mall’s free outdoor cinema is back this weekend: it involves bean bags and lots of families in front of the waterside promenade of the mall. At 5.30pm they’re screening dog-on-an-adventure 1992 classic Beethoven and at 8pm they’re pulling a real flashback Friday and showing Charlie Chaplin’s 1936 film Modern Times.

Dubai Marina Mall, from 5.30pm, free. More info on Facebook

9. Check out a new inner-city spa

We can think of far worse ways to spend a day than at a spa – and the new(ish) Heavenly Spa at Al Habtoor City is a true oasis in the middle of the hustle. The therapists here already have a reputation for being incredibly professional, and the Drizzle deep massage (Dhs435) uses warm shea, cocoa and mango butters to soften skin. Plus, you can make an afternoon of it as there are great sauna, steam and Jacuzzi facilities.

The Westin, Al Habtoor City, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. Tel: (04) 437 3300. More info on website.

10. Hit up Brewfest

Head down to the Dubai Creek for the chance to sample 50 varieties of brew, play beer pong, ride a rodeo bull or try your hand at giant Jenga. The fest runs from 1pm to 1am today (and on Thursday night and Saturday day too) and you can try the picnic brunch from 1pm to 4pm or the evening brunch from 7pm to 11pm for Dhs250 with house drinks.

Lakeview, Dubai Creek Golf Club, 1pm to 1am today, Dhs250 for brunch. Tel: (04) 295 6000 to book your table. More info on Facebook

11. Groove on the Grass (quite literally)

The party’s back on at the lawn of Emirates Golf Club tonight – you’ll get to work through sets from Italian brothers Alessandro and Federico of Mind Against; modern techno maestro Ben Clock; Locked Groove as well as German DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann. Might as well party outside while we still can.

Emirates Golf Club, Sheikh Zayed Road, 5pm to 3am, Dhs195 to Dhs240. Tel: (04) 380 1234. More info on website.

Saturday 1

12. Eat, drink and have a jolly good time

There’s a Great British Garden Party at Le Méridien Mina Seyahi’s amphitheatre from 12pm to 10pm today. Entry is free, and you can expect family activities, live entertainment, pitchers of classic English drinks, a carvery and truckloads of scones with cream and jam.

Le Méridien Mina Seyahi, Al Sufouh, Dubai, 12pm to 10pm, free entry. More info and full schedule on Facebook

13. Unwind at Piknik Electronik

If an EDM day out that includes a yoga and meditation session led by DJ Pierre Ravan and yogi Ramshad Ahmed sounds like your kind of musical throw down, then Piknik Electronik at Dubai International Marine Club is the afternoon-to-night out for you. There will be food on offer as well as family friendly activities. The line up includes Charl Chaka, Pierre Ravan, El Mundo and Chloé.

Dubai International Marine Club, Al Sufouh, 1pm to 1pm, Dhs100. Buy tickets here.

14. Finish the weekend with a roast

We love how fancy and refined one feels when sitting in the Dubai Mall Fortnum & Mason, and the good news is that they’re now serving roast dinner on a Saturday. For Dhs140 you’ll get a plate of roast, beef, chicken or lamb with all the trimmings (think Yorkshire puds, duck fat potatoes, parsnips, gravy, horseradish etc).

Fortnum & Mason, The Dubai Mall (near the fountain), 9am to midnight on Saturday (roast available for dinner). More info on website.

15. Watch a beautiful Japanese film in a new part of town

If Beethoven at Marina Mall isn’t your idea of a great family night out (that’s on Friday, see above) then take the kids to d3 tonight to watch a free screening of wonderful film The Tale of Princess Kaguya. There will also be the Audi Superheroes car game for kids to try too.

Dubai Design District, free, from 6.30pm. More info on Facebook.
