Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…

Our top pick of the movies out in cinemas this week is Get Out, a brilliant horror film directed by comedian Jordan Peele.

Get Out

Get Out has been getting rave reviews, and is on track to be one of the highest grossing R-rated horror films ever. The brainchild of comedian Jordan Peele (of comedy sketch show Key and Peele), it stars Brit actor Daniel Kaluuya as Chris, an African American man travelling to the suburbs to meet the family of his (white) wife Rose (played by Girls’ Allison Williams). But despite her pleasant parents, there’s something very off about the neighbourhood, and it soon becomes clear that Chris is not as welcome as he seems. Part horror, part biting satire and with dashes of comedy, this one’s a must-see.

 CHIPS

Hollywood loves nothing more than a reboot these days, but this movie remake of a 1970s TV show is worth a watch, thanks to its comedy dream team that includes Michael Peña, Maya Rudolph (who we will watch in anything) and real life couple Dax Shephard and Kristen Bell. Peña and Shepherd are the odd couple in this buddy cop scenario where they team up to go undercover in the California Highway Patrol to track down corrupt cops.

Smurfs: The Lost Village

Speaking of remakes, this animated movie based on the old cartoon will keep the kids happy this weekend. Our favourite blue creatures are voiced by an all-star cast, including Julia Roberts, Demi Lovato and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Ellie Kemper. It’s not one of those Dreamworks or Pixar movies that adults enjoy as much as kids, but it’s a fun diversion for an afternoon.

Also out this week:

– The Killing Grounds

 Fifty Shades Darker

– Max Steele

 Honey Bee 2 (Malayalam)

 Dora (Tamil)
