Rain, thunder and lightning… Dubai’s skies certainly know how to put on a show.

Dubai residents experienced an epic storm over the weekend, which flooded streets, cancelled events and disrupted flights.

The fork lightning was particularly dramatic:

Fifteen inbound flights had to be diverted from Dubai International Airport on Saturday, and a number of outbound flights were also delayed due to weather conditions, Dubai Airports said.

Meanwhile at the Dubai World Cup, outfits were accessorized with umbrellas as thousands braved the rain to witness the world’s richest race day.

The rain created massive muddy waterfalls on Mount Jess in RAK:

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology, the unstable conditions are set to continue today and tomorrow, with increasing cloud, dust storms, and scattered, thundery rain.

However, the end of the wild weather is in sight – things are expected to clear up on Tuesday.
