A fantastic new initiative has sprung up across eight of Dubai’s beaches…

Fancy a little seaside reading? Well then you’re in luck.

Officially announced this morning via their Instagram, Dubai Municipality inaugurated what they’re dubbing ‘beach libraries’ on the main areas of eight public beaches around the city including Umm Suqeim 1, Al Mamzar Corniche and Jumeirah 3.

The libraries are free to use and available to beach-goers throughout the day. They include an area with beanbags and tables for people to sit and enjoy their chosen literature.

Dubai Municipality have also provided lighting to make it still possible to read once the sun starts to go down.

Many people have already taken to social media using the hashtag #beachlibrary helping promote the initiative to hopefully encourage others to stop staring at their smartphones and pick up a book when they’re relaxing by the beach.
