Sponsored content: A five-star day on the water can actually be cheaper than a lunch on land (plus, we have a discount code for you)…
What many people don’t realise is that if you get a group together then a day out on a luxury boat in Dubai can cost from around Dhs33 per person per hour. That’s way cheaper than most brunches (and much cheaper than a beach and pool day at Dubai’s hotels).
So what can you do on a day out on a boat? Well, you can organise BBQs with the boat’s operators, or just self cater and bring your own snacks and drinks; you can sometimes organise jet skis and slides that jut out off the boat and there are also designated spots for swimming so that you can have a proper sea swim and jump off the boat (just be careful!).
There’s also a super easy way to book a boat too thanks to Charterclick – a new website that’s like ‘an Uber for yachts’. You just head to the site, select the date, time and length of trip you want to book. You’ll then be presented with a list of super-sleek boats, all complete with information such as how many people it can hold, and what facilities are on board (think water slides, showers, sun beds and sound systems).
Just pick the boat of your choice, pay, and voila — nothing more to do until it’s time to board.
WE HAVE A DISCOUNT CODE FOR YOU…
What’s On has teamed up with CharterClick to offer you guys a 5 per cent discount when booking your boat over the next month. Be sure to enter the promo code WHATSON17, valid until the end of April 2017.
Here are some different types of boats to book for different trips…
For fishing: Tarad
Dhs300 per hour, can hold 10 people
A fishing boat with modern equipment on boat that can cater for four different fishing techniques. You can go on a fishing trip to Moon Island – it takes about 90 minutes to get there, and then you can fish for hours, and then it’s 90 minutes (with the wind in your hair) back. Great for an early morning jaunt.
For sightseeing: S1/S2 luxury speedboats
Dhs448 per hour, can fit 11 people
These luxurious speedboats are perfect for those of you who want to see a lot of the city in a short time. Traversing all the way around the Palm Jumeirah and past the Burj Al Arab down the Dubai Canal would take four hours in a yacht but about half the time in a speedboat. It’s fun, fast, and you’ll get lots of pictures.
For serious fishers: AAA Deep Blue Sea
Dhs600 per hour, can fit 10 people
This 35-foot Gulf Craft angler has twin 250HP Suzuki engines and a maximum cruising speed of 50 knots. It’s for serious fishers as this particular boat won the Dubai fishing tournament in 2014, 2015 and 2016. It’s considered the number one fishing vessel in Dubai for big game.
From Jumeirah: Luxury 44
Dhs600 per hour, fits 12 people
The lovely yacht is docked in the Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour, and getting a boat from there rather than Dubai Marina drops the rental price by about Dhs100 per hour. Bargain. Want to see more angles of this particular boat? Well it’s the one featured in our video above…
For big parties: Luxury 82
Dhs1,250 per hour, can fit 35 people
This 82-foot yacht is the perfect option for big parties. Bring your own food and drink and fill up the boat and you have a cheap day out.
We’ll see you out on the water…
