Introducing Qwerty, a new after-work local for Media City slickers.

Monkey lamps, sheep sculptures, obscure pop art – sounds like the contents of a bric-a-brac store. Instead, it’s Qwerty, the new bar and restaurant inside the Media One Hotel. We shouldn’t be surprised at the restaurant’s eccentric décor. Media City dwellers are all too familiar with the hotel’s playful marketing stunts. And they work, too. From Q43’s cheeky happy hour deals to Café M’s brilliant workday salad buffet, Media One Hotel fills the needs of the neighbourhood.

Its latest offering, Qwerty, is located at the front of the hotel (previously a bit of a no-man’s land) and is set to become the hotel’s new, lively after-work drinks and dinner spot.

The refurbished patio is cordoned off away from the main road with a new separate outside bar and live music. Inside, you’ll find a buffet area, and plenty of the aforementioned animal sculptures. There’s a two-for-one happy hour on drinks between 5pm and 7pm, and despite being open for just a few months, it’s already packed with a post-work crowd.

If you’re hungry, we’d recommend the moules frites (Dhs63). It makes for a rich and hearty main course served with a basket of fries that are perfect for mopping up the leftover creamy sauce. Meanwhile, the grilled half chicken (Dhs69), though simple, is executed nicely. The meat is cooked through without being tough, and the skin, a touch charred.

End a day of work here and you’ll feel well rewarded for the brainpower you’ve exerted. Come for post-work drinks and the rest of your evening plans may disappear. It’s a party hotel, after all.
