Manufactured in Thailand, the coffee is marketed as a weight-loss product, however, it was found to contain Sibutramine, a chemical that has been already banned in several countries, thus leading to the decision to remove it from the market locally.
Originally used as a treatment for obesity, studies later showed that Sibutramine could increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease and was subsequently pulled from the European market by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in January of 2010.
