Live music, street food, salsa nights and more…

The excellently-named Hangry Hangar has just returned for another year: last summer they drove food trucks inside a warehouse in Al Quoz, but this year they’ve chosen food concepts (not on wheels) and will also host workshops and events – from painting classes to African salsa nights.

What can we expect food wise? Well, burgers, definitely burgers, good coffee, pizza, and even bao (yum).

Also, there’s no risk of sweating into your shawarma here: you’ll be able to choose from independent eateries surrounded by air con (and free wifi, bonus).

The warehouse is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and will be serving up food from 10am to 11pm on weekdays, and 8am to midnight on weekends (Friday and Saturday).

SO WHAT FOOD WILL I FIND THERE?

Here’s what you’ll find cooking…

My Mosa

Love samosas? You’ll love these ‘mosas and the delicious chutneys they come with…

Pinza

Healthy, fermented pizza bases that contain minimal amounts of gluten. Pinzas are not quite pizzas, not quite flatbreads, but they are delicious.

Gobai

Goan flavours with street food sensibilities…

Nouq

Camel milk gelato and desserts.

The Shebi

Excellent street food (and yes, that is a waffle).

Also there… Pop Cafe and Carvin’ Concepts

WHAT ABOUT THE EVENTS?

There are also events that will act as complements to the food – on Thursday July 6 you’ll be able to learn how to dance African Salsa from 8pm to 9pm or 9.30pm to 10.30pm for Dhs100 per person; on Friday July 7 they have painting and art classes from just Dhs40 and on Friday night there will be live music from the Nowhere Birds and Jamil Jabbour. Follow Hangry Hangar on Facebook for week-by-week updates on their events.

To book in for any of these call (056) 440 6022 or email hangryhangar@gmail.com.

Where is it? Just put ‘Warehouse Four’ into Google Maps to get there – they’re just off Sheikh Zayed Road, Exit 43, around the corner from Tom & Serg.
