Every Thursday hotel bar Shanghai 30 has a great-value drinks deal for ladies up the Oud Metha end of town. 2. Enjoy an authentic Filipino fiesta

Skye & Walker, a cute neighbourhood eatery at Dubai Creek has launched a new ‘Fiesta Filipino’ themed night every Thursday. Expect a buffet-style set up with a host of Filipino dishes from beef mechado (a tangy stew) to chop suey, as well as Skye & Walker’s gluten-free salad bar. It costs Dhs110 for the full spread.

3. Cool off with some family fun

There’s a pop-up water play centre for kids at Dubai Marina Mall promenade at the moment. There will be beach ball racing, tag, and target shooting available for all the family every day until the end of August. Each session is 20 minutes and can take up to 20 people. And, best of all, it’s free.

4. Catch some improv theatre

Rove Hotels has launched a partnership with The Courtyard Playhouse to bring an improv theatre night to one of the city’s Rove Hotels on the third Thursday of each month. Every performance will feature top improv actors from the Courtyard Playhouse Company, and this weekend you’ll see two shows: ‘This is Impro’ and ‘Racy Desis’. Each performance is, as the name suggests, unrehearsed, unscripted and totally improvised.

Friday August 18

5. Get breakfast at the brand new Eggspectation

If you’ve ever headed down to JBR on a weekend for breakfast, you’ll have seen the approach-with-caution queues outside Eggspectation. But now the brand has opened a second location in City Walk to feed your breakfast-food cravings. Egg-spect their signature favourites, which include Smoked Salmon Benedict, Fried Chicken and Waffles and of course many creative egg dishes.

6. Head to a fashionable summer pop-up

There’s a brand new pop-up retail spot headed for d3 this weekend. ‘Creative Shelf DXB’ will be filled with local designers as well as fashion, photography, social media and beauty workshops scheduled throughout across the event (you can find the details of the events on the website below).

7. Zen out with rainforest yoga

Find your Zen with The Green Planet City Walk and 136.1 Yoga Studio as they take to The Green Planet for a session of rainforest yoga. The hour-long session is part of a summer series of events, and on Friday it’s Vinyasa Flow, a high-energy, fast-paced, fitness-based yoga.

8. See a legendary hip-hop DJ

No.1 Fridays, Dubai’s longest running Urban night is bringing legendary DJ Tim Westwood to Dubai this weekend. Arguably one of the most recognised hip-hop DJs from the UK, expect a high energy set at the newly refurbished Marina nightclub XL.

9. Experience a wine tasting

Reform Social & Grill will be hosting its very own Woodstock Wine Night this Saturday. Chief Winemaker of Woodstock, Scott Collett, will host a wine tasting class and provide information on the origins and history of four different Australian wines. There will also be a specialist eight-dish BBQ menu created for the evening including rosemary lamb skewers and honey mustard chicken wings.

10. Hit up a pool party

Liquid Nation kicks off every Saturday evening at Fairmont Dubai’s rooftop pool. Frankie’s Comedy Cellar is returning for a free comedy night at Frankie’s Italian on JBR. New host Simeon Goodson has assembled a brand new opening team to tickle your comedic tastebuds. The New York native, a comedy circuit stalwart, will host a rotating cast of comedians alongside live music and happy hour drinks offers from 6pm to 8pm.

12. Enjoy a sunset Sangria

Riva Beach Club is back in action after a summer refurb’, and with it comes a brand new Mediterranean menu with a whole host of new deals.
