An Indian fine-dining export, a re-invented menu and a backyard bistro…

From unique dining experiences, to wallet-friendly dinner deals perfect for pairs, we seem to have it all when it comes to eating out in Dubai.

But as the Dubai foodie scene gets bigger and bigger, we’re seeing concepts both old and new bringing a fresh approach to dining in Dubai. So here are three restaurants on our radar to check out this weekend.

THE BRAND NEW

Khyber: The Indian fine-dining export

The first Khyber restaurant outside of its native Mumbai, the concept is on the 15th floor of the recently opened DUKES hotel. Boasting a 180-degree view of the Dubai Marina skyline and a 40-seater terrace, Khyber also has a live cooking station and private dining options. Dishes on the rather extensive menu are based on fish, lamb, chicken and vegetarian recipes. Signature highlights include Tandoori Raan, a tender leg of baby lamb cooked in a clay oven and Hara Masala Pomfret, whole pomfret stuffed with mild coconut and coriander chutney. The menu also features nine different types of roti (bread). So if you’re carb-lovers like us, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

15th Floor, DUKES Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, daily 5pm-11pm. Tel: (04) 455 1101. More info on website

THE REVAMPED

The Noodle House: The re-invented classic

The Noodle House is undergoing its biggest relaunch since debuting in 2002. It’s starting with a brand new menu with 50 brand new items at its flagship Madinat Jumeirah outlet, which reopens this Sunday August 13. The Noodle House’s Asian food concept follows a simple ‘sticks-hands-spoon’ mantra, which simply means enjoying fast and fresh Asian food the way it’s been eaten for generations; with chopsticks, your hands or a spoon. There’s a brand new cocktail menu, fourteen types of noodle to try and a list of new street-style buns and baos. That works for us.

Various locations, including Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Al Sufouh, daily 12pm to midnight. Tel: (04) 366 6730. More info on website

A HEALTHCARE CITY LOCAL

The Veranda: The newly-opened backyard bistro

A sports pub-meets-bistro has just opened its doors at the Hyatt Regency, Dubai Creek Heights. The Veranda showcases a menu of international cuisine inspired by Europe, America and the Middle East, and a detailed wine and beer list. Complete with vintage-style indoor seating, an outdoor shisha terrace, and a live sports screening bar, The Veranda is promising casual dining. There will be board games on offer, and a special afternoon tea menu as well, and we predict that the terrace will be pretty popular once the weather’s cooled down.

Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights, Healthcare City, Sat to Weds 12pm to 12am Thurs & Fri 12pm to 2am. Tel: (04) 553 1212. More info on website
