Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery will open on The Beach, JBR, this week…

Acclaimed American chef Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery will open on The Beach, JBR this Wednesday. It promises to bring ‘the sweetest of treats’, custom-blend coffee and signature snacks such as the ‘Bouchons’: rich, chocolatey petite brownies filled with semi-sweet chocolate morsels. They sound delicious.

It’s the first of the celebrity chef’s Bouchon Bakeries outside of the US. Keller, who has amassed an impressive 7 Michelin stars across three of his restaurants, is expected to head to Dubai this November.

Bouchon Bakery, inspired by Keller’s life in Paris, has all the foundations of a French boulangerie (or bakery). There’s a typical warm green and white colour scheme, an open window to the kitchen where you can watch the chefs at work, and a sweet-treat counter that appeals to the eyes.

But the menu isn’t restricted to those with a sweet tooth. The bakery has an all-day menu of pastries, salads, sandwiches and soups, with flavours remaining true to the French origins of the bakery.

It’s a moderately priced menu, where a roasted beet salad with goats’ cheese and red grape vinaigrette will set you back Dhs55. One of the bakery’s signature tarts will cost you between Dhs18 and Dhs24.

Plus, in the winter, the floor-to-ceiling windows will open up onto The Beach Boulevard, offering views out to the beach. We reckon this unlicensed restaurant might just become our new JBR breakfast spot…

Where will you find it? Pro tip: it’s close to the Sephora shop on The Beach
