Live on the Lake returns for a night of retro rock and pop music this October

The Pretenders, Heather Small and reggae band Aswad will all be taking to the stage at the Irish Village next month.

Live on the Lake will return to the Irish Village on Thursday October 26 and there’s a triple bill of old-school artists headlining. It’s the second nostalgia-fueled concert headed for the venue next month after Remix 92 was announced recently.

The Pretenders career kicked off in the 80s. They’re most famous for their pop-rock hits ‘Brass In Pocket’, ‘Back On The Chain Gang’ and their cover of love ballad ‘I’ll Stand By You’

They will be joined by Heather Small, who found fame as the lead singer of M People back in the nineties. Their hits included ‘Moving On Up and ‘Search For The Hero’, and the group won two Brit awards and a Mercury Prize. As a solo artist, Heather has released two albums, of which the title track of her ‘Proud’ album became the soundtrack to the London’s successful 2012 Olympic bid.

The last act announced on the bill is popular British reggae band Aswad. The trio first found fame in the 70s, and fifteen albums later they’re bringing some of their most-loved tracks from two decades in music to The Irish Village. Expect to enjoy this iconic reggae cover of ‘Don’t Turn Around’ on the night:

This is the second concert in the ‘Live on the Lake’ series set to take place over the covered lake at the Irish Village, offering great views of the stage from both the iconic Garhoud pub and the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel’s lawn and terrace.

The Irish Village, Garhoud, Thursday October 26, tickets from Dhs195, brunch options available. Tickets available from irishvillage.com and platinumlist.net. Strictly 21+.
