From rooftop prosecco pops to seaside sundowners…

After a summer that felt like it was never going to end, we’re calling it, Dubai is finally cooling down. So now all we want to do is get outside, especially when it comes to sipping on sundowners. So, for the new season, we’ve tracked down five fresh spots that you’ll definitely want to add to your sunset drinks bucket list…

But if it’s a classic you’re after, you’ll find eight more spots for sunset drinks right here.

Here are five fresh sundowner spots to try in Dubai

1. Fish Beach Taverna

Finally back from its summer hiatus, the popular whitewashed Fish Beach Taverna added a Mediterranean vibe to Dubai’s dining scene when it opened last September. After a short summer break, the team are now back, serving up seafood, Insta-worthy sunsets and a relaxing beachside soundtrack. Food-wise, expect Turkish and Greek dishes, with a focus on seafood.

Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, daily 12pm to 11pm. Tel: (04) 511 7139. More info on website

2. Breeze Beach Grill

While we like visiting Breeze most times of the day, especially for their weekend breakfast, it’s a great spot at around 6pm as it has to be one of the best sundowner spots on The Palm. It’s got views out across Jumeirah, and the outdoor terrace extends onto the beach so you can sip a drink at sunset from one of their deck chairs with your toes in the sand (bliss).

Club Vista Mare, Palm Jumeirah, Sat to Weds 11am to 12am, Thurs and Fri 11am to 1am. Tel (04) 568 3000. More info on website

3. Folly by Nick and Scott

Folly has fast become one of our favourite sunset spots, and its signature Prosecco Pop (an ice lolly served up in a glass of prosecco, Dhs35) has graced our Instagram more times than we’d like to admit. That drink is included in their daily happy hour, as well as several other cocktails including the Sunset Sling, Patron Passion and Folly’s Fruit which are all Dhs25 from 3pm to 7pm.

folly by Nick and Scott, Madinat Jumeirah, daily 12pm to 2.30pm (3.30pm on weekends) and 5pm to 11pm. Tel: (04) 430 8535. More info on website

4. Riviera Beach Grill

Riviera Beach Grill is a beachfront Mediterranean restaurant with washed white and light blue interiors that will take you back to summers in Europe (but, thing is, you’re actually sitting in JBR). It’s yet another addition to JBR’s Rixos Premium, which is also home to Lock, Stock & Barrel two, Azure Beach, and newly opened nightclub Inner City Zoo. The menu has a strong focus on seafood, although there’s pizza, pasta and a rotisserie on offer too. Coupled with the picture-perfect sunsets looking out to the almost-finished Ain Dubai, and a neat cocktail menu that also includes sharing pitchers, it’s a great choice for soaking up the last of the winter sun on JBR.

Riviera Beach Grill, Rixos Premium JBR, daily 12pm to 11.30pm. Tel: (052) 777 9473. More info on website

5. La Cala

While its postcode may say Abu Dhabi, the sunsets here are so good La Cala had to make the cut. Twenty minutes out of Dubai, this beachside bar is one of our top hidden gems. Only open on Fridays at the minute, it’s rolling brunch from 1pm to 9pm offers up a three hour package at a time of your choosing for Dhs199. Our favourite time to head down is for the sunset slot to snap pics like this while sipping on sundowners (and tucking into their stone-baked pizzas, which are worth the journey alone).

La Cala, Al Jazira Hotels and Resort, Ghantoot, Abu Dhabi, Friday 12pm to 4am, (brunch 12pm to 9pm Dhs199). Tel: (056) 113 3400. More info on website
