The singer-songwriter’s gigs up until November 5 have all been cancelled, but we’re still waiting to hear about Dubai…

Tickets for Ed Sheeran’s Dubai show sold out in a matter of hours, but whether the singer will make it to the UAE or not is now under question after he broke his arm in a cycling accident (the BBC confirmed that he’s broken his right arm).

And in a new update on his Facebook page, Sheeran has said he’s sadly been forced to cancel seven gigs across Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong. He added that he has a fractured wrist and elbow, leaving him unable to perform ‘for the immediate future’.

Sheeran is due to play at the Autism Rocks Arena near Dubai Outlet Mall on November 23, but we still don’t know if he will be able to. Between his cancelled shows up until November 5, and his Dubai show on November 23, there are still seven more shows through the Phillipenes, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and India.

So hopefully with over a month in recovery, we’re hoping the Dubai gig won’t be cancelled.

On whether further gigs will be cancelled, he said: “I’m waiting to see how the healing progresses before we have to decide on shows beyond [those cancelled].”
We reached out to 117 Live, who are organising Sheeran’s Dubai gig, and CEO Thomas Oversen had this to say: “We have now received an update from the Ed Sheeran team that he is unable to perform for the immediate future. Since Dubai is the last show of the season we have been told that the show is still going ahead as planned. Until we receive any further feedback from Ed we are sending him get well wishes from Dubai and we hope to see him soon.”

How did the accident happen? Well he was knocked over by a car when cycling in London, and the accident has left him unable to type, or likely play the guitar. (Remember, playing the guitar is a big part of his musical DNA and is an essential element to his live shows).

The 26-year-old megastar is touring to promote his upcoming album Divide.

We imagine it’s all very much up in the air right now, but good on Sheeran for keeping his fans in the loop.
