Vouchers for cafes, restaurants and entertainment centres will be up for grabs.

Who doesn’t have a Nol card? If your wallet is lacking Dubai’s ubiquitous silver smart card (or even the gold version, if you’re a little bit more fancy), then you may want to get your hands on one immediately.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced it will be launching a loyalty points programme for Nol card users called nol+, which will be in place by the end of the year.

How will it work? Well, every time you use your Nol card to pay for things like public transport and parking, you’ll receive points.

These points will be converted into coupon vouchers, which can then be redeemed at cafes, restaurants and entertainment centres.

The aim of the new scheme is to encourage people to use their Nol cards to pay for everyday services. Did you know you can use your Nol card at more than 1,000 retailers across Dubai?

You can use it to pay for snacks at Zoom convenience stores, and can even swipe it to pay for entry into attractions around the city, like public parks and the Etihad Museum.

As well as paying for metro, tram, bus and abra rides, you can also use your Nol card to cover your taxi fare.

The RTA has said by the end of the year, more than 5,000 retailers in Dubai should accept the Nol card… so time to start collecting those points. We’ll let you know as soon as we have more details about the goodies on offer (yay, free stuff!).
