The famous Ibiza sax player talks to What’s On ahead of her return to Zero Gravity this Saturday.

If you’ve been to Ibiza, you’ll know Lovely Laura. If you haven’t been to Ibiza, you’ve probably still heard of Lovely Laura.

The talented sax player has amassed well over 50 million views online, and her live shows at the likes of Ushuaïa, Ocean Beach Ibiza, Klingande, Mambo Ibiza, EsParadis and Space Ibiza have become an Ibiza essential.

This weekend, she’s heading back to Zero Gravity with her husband, one of Ibiza’s most famed DJs Ben Santiago.

Ahead of their performance, we caught up with the duo to talk Dubai, downtime and what we’ll find them doing next year…

What’s On: Welcome back to Dubai! You perform all over the world, what makes Dubai different?

Laura: Without a doubt my favourite gigs in Dubai have been at Zero Gravity. The energy there reminds me of Ibiza actually, such a great multi-cultural crowd that wants to party – my heaven! Really looking forward to playing their Supernatural party this Saturday, this will be a first time for me at this event, so very excited.

Ben: I can’t think of many other places where you play at an open-air venue against the backdrop of a stunning city skyline!

What’s On: When you’re not performing, what will we find you getting up to in the city?

Laura: Downtime – what’s that?! I don’t think I’ve yet managed to completely switch off in Dubai. That’s pretty sad, isn’t it?

Ben: This is the third time in 12 months we’ve come to Dubai and each time sadly we’ve been here for less than 24 hours.

What’s On: We know you’re heading on to Malaysia and China before heading back to the UK, but where can we find you the rest of the winter season?

Laura: Ben and I are going to attempt to grab some holiday time together! Also, we have blocked a couple of months in the diary to get in the studio and write some new music, this is something I am bursting to do yet it’s so difficult when you’re playing all the time.

Ben: And of course we’re hoping to be back in Dubai again before the summer season!

What’s On: If you weren’t in music, what would you be doing?

Laura: I used to go to art college before my music took off so I think I would still be doing something creative.

Ben: I am very passionate about nature, so hopefully something to do with conservation.

Is there anywhere left on your bucket list?

Laura: Australia! Every year there’s always talk about it and then it never materialises, which is a shame as I often get fans writing to me from there asking me when I’ll be visiting them. One day, hopefully! I also played in America once and they totally loved the sax, so I would love to go back and do a US tour.

Ben: The Galapagos Islands. I would love to get out there at some point!
