HH Sheikh Mohammed has dubbed it ‘Tolerance Bridge’ to mark the 22nd International Day of Tolerance…

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has taken to social media to officially unveil the name of one of the iconic pedestrian bridges that cross over the Dubai Canal.

Dubbed ‘Tolerance Bridge’, it was named thus to mark the 22nd International Day of Tolerance on Thursday 16 November, with His Highness remarking in the Twitter post that the UAE and tolerance are “two sides of the same coin”.

He goes on to say in another post (complete with the below video montage of the ruler touring the canal) that bridges have a way of linking humans both literally and metaphorically. Along with the announcement, the Sheikh also posted a letter he penned to commemorate the occasion in which he talks about how rather than its highrises and wide roads, the UAE is proudest of all of its tolerance.

He sure has a way with words, doesn’t he?

The International Day of Tolerance is a global initiative by the United Nations designed to help strengthen tolerance by fostering mutual understanding among cultures and peoples.
