Public transport timings will also be adjusted accordingly…

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that there will be free city-wide parking this weekend to coincide with the Prophet’s Birthday (PBUH), Commemoration Day and the UAE’s 46th National Day.

Starting Thursday 30 November until Monday 4 December all paid parking zones in Dubai will be free of charge (excluding multi-storey carparks).

This is great news for those who will be back at work on Sunday 3 December as it was announced last week that the private sector would only be entitled to a three-day weekend as opposed to the four-days off given to public sector workers. Nothing like free parking to help lessen the sting of not getting an extra day off.

What about public transport?

Public transport timings have also been adjusted to help with the expected increase in traffic over the weekend:

Dubai Metro Red Line stations will run from 5am to 1am on Thursday (30 November), while Green Line stations will be open from 5.30am until 1am. On Friday (1 December), both Red Line and Green Line stations will operate between 10am and 1am. On both Saturday and Sunday (2 & 3 December) Red Line stations will open from 5am to midnight, with the Green Line starting half an hour earlier at 5.30am.

Dubai Tram will run from 6am to 1am on Thursday, reopening at 9am on Friday and running until 1am. On Saturday and Sunday, the tram will run between 6am and 1am.
