The two-lane, one-way bridge will link Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Road over the Dubai Canal.

A brand new bridge is set to open in early January to ease traffic in Downtown Dubai.

The one-way bridge, which starts from the intersection of Ras Al Khor Road-Al Khail Road, will link to Financial Centre Road over the Dubai Canal.

This will add two lanes, extending 480 metres, to the existing road to enable direct flow of traffic from Dubai-Al Ain Road to Al Khail Road via the upper deck of the Financial Center Road.

The bridge aims to ease the flow of traffic along Financial Centre Road and its intersections, which should then ease pressure on the intersections of Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard.

It will also add an entry point for the parking terminal of the new extension at Dubai Mall.

This will no doubt help to accommodate the huge expansion of Dubai Mall that’s happening right now to make the shopping centre capable of receiving more than 100 million visitors each year.

The Dubai Mall expansion works include constructing a department for fashion besides the existing mall, which will add 75,000 square metres to the mall area, in addition to 25,000 square metres of parking spaces.
