“We wish that 2018 is filled with generosity and goodness for everybody.”

As Dubai gears up for another massive New Year’s Eve, the vice president of the UAE and ruler of Dubai has encouraged us to take some time to reflect on the year that has passed.

In a New Year’s Eve message posted to Twitter, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid tribute to all those who helped make a difference in 2017.

“Brothers and sisters, as 2017 comes to an end – with all of its challenges and achievements, all of its projects and initiatives – we say thanks to all who were a part of our achievements, thanks to every member of the UAE community and thanks to everyone for their positive contributions to make a better and happier world,” he wrote, according to a translation by the Khaleej Times.

“We wish that 2018 is filled with generosity and goodness for everybody – blessings and development for our great people and our friends. We are optimistic for the New Year, for a new journey of dedicated work/service, and a new optimistic spirit to take on challenges that takes us to new heights of success and achievements.”

Remember, 2018 will be the Year of Zayed in the UAE, marking 100 years since the birth of the nation’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan.

The year will not only be about remembering all that Sheikh Zayed did to form the UAE of today, but it will also be about instilling his values across the community.
