1. Test your knowledge with a sports quiz

Sports buffs are invited to take part in Spike bar’s brand new ‘Ultimate Sports Quiz’ every Sunday from 7pm. The free to enter quiz will be hosted by sports presenters Chris McHardy and Robbie Greenfield, and victors of each weekly quiz will make it onto the leaders scoreboard, with the top six teams at the end of the series invited to a final battle on Sunday April 8. The winners will get themselves two return tickets to New York.

2. Kickstart the week with some Mindfulness Meditation

Is your New Year’s resolution to focus on your wellbeing more? If so, Real Pilates might have just what you’re looking for with the launch of their three-class mindfulness meditation workshops. Through various meditation practices, a combination of both discussions and exercises, the hour-long sessions will guide attendees to being more self aware and connected, thereby leaving them feeling more calm and content.

3. Tuck in to a curry on The Palm

Beachside gastro-pub The Tap House serves up up a variety curries every Monday from 6pm. The pop up curry night is hosted by weekly guest chefs with the likes of lamb vindaloo, classic chicken biryiani and chicken tikka masala to choose from. Pair your mains with crispy poppadoms, minty raita, papaya murabba, accompanied by your choice of veggies. It’s Dhs105.

4. Get inspired with an innovation workshop

The latest in Flow’s series of inspirational talks takes place this Tuesday January 23. Kicking off the year is Sharif Maghraby – keynote speaker, trainer and currently the lead innovation coach at ‘Winnovate’.  His talk is entitled ‘The Creative Leader: Mindsets and Methodologies for Innovation’ and will share ground-breaking practices and powerful processes designed to drive innovation for societies, institutions, businesses and individuals alike.

5. See an iconic musical at Dubai Opera

Kicking things off, Dubai Opera is bringing the tear-jerking Evita to the stage for a two-week run from January 22. And when it comes to strong First Ladies, Eva Peron is right up there among the best. The Argentinian heroine, a former actress, helped her husband Colonel Juan Peron guide the country through a turbulent time from 1946 to her death in 1952, and in doing so became an icon of the South American country.

6. Get your Latin American fix at Catch Dubai’s Havana nights

It was one of LA export, Catch’s most pouplar nights last year, and now Havana Nights is back this Wednesday. The Latin American themed night hosts live band CubaChe, serves up a selection of themed cocktails inspired by Dirty Dancing starting from Dhs35, and a lively atmosphere.

7. Bring in the weekend early with a mid-week night out

International party brand Candypants has taken over JBR haunt Inner City Zoo on Wednesday’s and it’s fast becoming the go-to mid-week event. Expect shots-shows, sparklers and a glitzy party atmosphere.
